DBCS HONORS SENIOR BASKETBALL PLAYERS
DBCS Honors Six Seniors: David Brainerd had its 3rd senior night for high school basketball players Tuesday, February 12 as the Wildcats hosted Tennessee Temple. In between the games six seniors were honored for their hard work and dedication to the Wildcat basketball programs.
To add to the night's excitement, Senior, Natalie North passed the 1500 career point mark, setting the DBCS scoring record previously held by Lauren Hudgens. Action was stopped midway through the 2nd quarter and Natalie was presented a ball for her accomplishment.

NEW DBCS COACHES
Mike Kirk is joing the DBCS coaching ranks as the MS girls' basketball head coach. Mike comes to DBCS from Hixson High School where he was an assistant coach with the boys' basketball team.
"We are extremely excited to have Mike with us this year. He will be a HUGE asset to the DBCS coaching staff. His knowledge and experience in coaching will be a tremendous helps all of us this year. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with Mike and having him work with my middle school girls' is an extreme benefit for my program." AD Laura Cottrell
David Brainerd announces te hiring of our new Volleyball and Softball coach, Angela Johnson. Angela will be teaching Health and PE and coaching both HS Volleyball and HS Softball. Angela joins us from CAK in Knoxville where she coached the high school softball team.
Angela is a native to Chattanooga, Graduating from East Ridge High School. While at ER Angela won numerous championships in both volleyball and softball. Angela played college softball for Ralph and Karen Weekley at UTC for 2 years following them to UTK at the end of her Sophomore Season. Angela played 2 seasons for the Lady Vols, helping build the softball program to a national power.
"We are excited to have Angela as a part of our staff. She is going to be huge addition to our athletic department." says Athletic Director Laura Cottrell
Angela and husband Ken are excited to return to Chattanooga and have recently had their first child, Stone Johnson.
Long time area track coach Ken Akin is also joining the DBCS staff as Chaplin, history teacher, and coach. Ken joins us from GPS where he coached the girls track team for 6 years. Ken's experiences also include coaching football and teaching at Ooltewah HS as well as McCallie School. Ken will coach both boys and girls cross country teams and will begin establishing our first ever track team.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with Coach Akin . It is a tremendous privilege to have such incredible man and coach on our staff." comments Athletic Director Laura Cottrell
Chad Chung will join DBCS as our new middle school soccer coach. Chad is a former USAF officer, and has played soccer in the US as well as overseas. Chad was a member of Osan Korea’s traveling soccer team. As an ambassador of the game, he traveled for a year, playing soccer at many sites across South Korea. Chad garnered many accolades during his extensive soccer career. He is well known throughout the community for his dedication to teaching youth soccer at both Redoubt and Camp Jordan.
"We are excited about the energy and passion Chad brings to our young people. Chad's knowledge of the game of soccer will only help our athletes excel in the sport. We are looking forward to an exciting soccer season this year," says AD Laura Cottrell.
These additions to our athletic department only adds to the already impressive staff. These new coaches will help our athletic programs grow closer to our goal of becoming the best in Chattanooga. If you look at our coaching staff all the way around you can see the commitment we have made to athletics.
