Tawambi Settles - Government, Economics, Head Football Coach

Coach Settles, a native of Chattanooga and one of the most celebrated athletes at McCallie in school history, lettered in four sports and was named best all around athlete in Chattanooga during his senior year. After graduating in 1994, Tawambi attended Duke University on a football scholarship, lettering all four years. While at Duke as a Political Science major, Tawambi was a two time Atlantic Coast Conference all academic team honoree. In 1998, he signed with the Detroit Lions and began a seven year professional football carrer, beginning as a player and concluding as a player personnel evaluator.

Tawambi recently returned to his hometown and spent the spring semester tutoring at Hixson Elementary and serving as a mentor at Howard High. Tawambi's famly has great history in the Chattanooga educational community making his transition from professional football to teaching an easy one. His mother Eva is a veteran teacher in Chattanooga and Hamilton County and served for several years with the state department of education
